Why does \s+ not work?
Section titled “Why does \s+ not work?”Some shells treat backslashes as escapes. Try using single quotes or double-escape:
splitby -d '/\s+/' 1splitby -d "/\\s+/" 1Why are selections joined with spaces sometimes?
Section titled “Why are selections joined with spaces sometimes?”When --join is not set, splitby uses a priority rule:
- delimiter after the previous selection
- delimiter before the next selection
- fallback space
Use --join for consistent output.
